About this remedy

Cinnamon, especially Ceylon cinnamon, has demonstrated ability to lower fasting blood glucose and improve lipid profiles. A meta-analysis of 10 RCTs found cinnamon supplementation significantly reduces fasting glucose, total cholesterol, LDL, and triglycerides — all cardiovascular risk factors.

Preparation

Add ½–1 teaspoon of Ceylon cinnamon to morning oatmeal, coffee, or warm milk. Or steep a cinnamon stick in hot water for 10 minutes for cinnamon tea.

Dosage

1–6 grams of Ceylon cinnamon daily (about ½–2 teaspoons). Use Ceylon variety, not Cassia, for long-term use.

Cassia cinnamon contains high levels of coumarin (liver-toxic in large amounts) — use Ceylon variety for daily supplementation. May interact with diabetes medications.
