About this remedy
A 2024 randomised controlled trial published in BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health found that daily consumption of 15 ml of apple cider vinegar over 12 weeks produced significant weight, BMI, and blood sugar improvements in overweight adults. The acetic acid slows gastric emptying (promoting fullness at meals), improves insulin sensitivity, and may reduce fat storage. This simple morning tonic is one of the easiest evidence-based rituals to add to a weight management routine.
Preparation
In a large glass, combine 1-2 tablespoons (15-30 ml) of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar with 'the mother' and 8 oz (240 ml) of warm or room-temperature water. Add the juice of half a lemon and 1 teaspoon of raw honey for taste. Stir well and drink through a straw to protect tooth enamel.
Dosage
1 glass each morning, 15-30 minutes before breakfast. Continue consistently for at least 8-12 weeks to see research-backed benefits.
Cautions
Always dilute — never drink straight. May interact with diabetes medications, diuretics, and digoxin. Can erode tooth enamel — rinse mouth with water after. Avoid with active ulcers, severe GERD, or low potassium levels.
