About this remedy
Ashwagandha is one of the most extensively studied adaptogens. A systematic review of 5 RCTs found it significantly reduces stress and anxiety scores and lowers serum cortisol levels by up to 30%. Its withanolides modulate the HPA axis, helping the body adapt to physical and mental stress.
Preparation
Mix ½ teaspoon of ashwagandha root powder (KSM-66 extract is best studied) into warm milk with honey and a pinch of cinnamon.
Dosage
300–600 mg standardized extract daily, or ½ teaspoon powder. Allow 4–8 weeks for full benefits.
Cautions
Avoid during pregnancy. May interact with thyroid, blood sugar, and blood pressure medications. May cause mild GI upset initially.
