About this remedy
Cucumber is 96% water, making it one of the most hydrating foods available. It contains silica (a trace mineral essential for collagen production and skin elasticity), vitamin K (which helps reduce dark circles by strengthening capillary walls), and cucurbitacins with anti-inflammatory properties. Clinical research shows cucumber extract significantly reduces skin wrinkle depth, sebum production, and skin roughness. Its cooling effect constricts blood vessels, reducing puffiness and swelling.
Preparation
Place chilled cucumber slices over closed eyes for 10โ15 minutes to reduce puffiness. For a face mask, blend half a cucumber with 1 tablespoon yogurt and apply for 15 minutes. Internally, eat 1 cup of cucumber slices daily or add to water for infused hydration.
Dosage
Topical: cucumber slices or mask 2โ3 times weekly. Internal: 1+ cup daily as food or infused water.
Cautions
Generally very safe. Rare cucumber allergy exists (may cross-react with ragweed). Wash skin before applying. Conventionally grown cucumbers may have pesticide residue โ consider organic for skin application.
