About this remedy

Steam inhalation with aromatic herbs may provide short-term comfort for nasal congestion and throat irritation during flu. Thyme and eucalyptus are traditionally used for respiratory support, and warm humid air can temporarily ease upper airway discomfort.

Preparation

Add 1 tbsp dried thyme to a bowl of hot water. Optionally add 1 drop food-safe eucalyptus oil or a few eucalyptus leaves. Lean over carefully with a towel and inhale steam for 5-10 minutes.

Dosage

1-2 sessions daily during congestion.

Cautions

Avoid essential oil overuse and keep steam away from children to prevent burns. Stop if irritation occurs.
