About this remedy
Green tea consumption is strongly associated with reduced cardiovascular risk. A large meta-analysis of 13 studies found drinking 3+ cups daily reduces heart attack risk by 11% and stroke risk by 14%. Its catechins (especially EGCG) improve endothelial function, reduce LDL oxidation, and support healthy cholesterol levels.
Preparation
Steep 1 teaspoon of high-quality loose-leaf green tea in 175°F (80°C) water for 2–3 minutes. Avoid boiling water. Can re-steep leaves 2–3 times.
Dosage
3–5 cups daily for cardiovascular benefit
Cautions
Contains caffeine — limit intake in the afternoon/evening. May reduce iron absorption from meals; drink between meals if iron-deficient. May interact with blood thinners.
