About this remedy

Red raspberry leaf contains fragarine, an alkaloid that helps tone the muscles of the pelvic region, including the uterus. Regular use over several months may help reduce cramping, regulate cycles, and strengthen uterine tissue. It is one of the most extensively used herbs in midwifery traditions worldwide.

Preparation

Place 1-2 tbsp dried raspberry leaf in a mug. Pour boiling water over the leaves and steep for 10-15 minutes, covered. Strain. For a stronger medicinal infusion, steep 1 oz in a quart jar for 4+ hours or overnight.

Dosage

1-3 cups daily. For menstrual support, use consistently throughout the cycle for at least 2-3 months to notice full benefits.

Cautions

Generally considered very safe. Some herbalists advise caution during the first trimester of pregnancy. Consult a midwife or herbalist for pregnancy-related use.
