About this remedy

Rosemary has been associated with memory since ancient Greece, and modern research confirms it. A controlled study found that rosemary aroma significantly improved prospective memory (remembering to do things) and cognitive speed. Its carnosic acid protects brain cells from oxidative damage and its 1,8-cineole has been directly correlated with improved cognitive performance in blood plasma studies. Oral rosemary extract also shows promise for reducing mental fatigue.

Preparation

For aromatherapy, diffuse 3โ€“5 drops of rosemary essential oil during work or study. For tea, steep 1โ€“2 teaspoons fresh or dried rosemary in hot water for 5โ€“8 minutes. Also excellent added to cooking โ€” roasted vegetables, meats, and soups.

Dosage

Diffuse for 30โ€“60 minutes during cognitive tasks, or drink 1โ€“2 cups rosemary tea daily
