About this remedy

Blueberries are rich in anthocyanins that support night vision and reduce eye fatigue, while carrots provide beta-carotene essential for vitamin A production and retinal function. A study in the Journal of Nutrition found that anthocyanin supplementation improved visual function in people with eye strain.

Preparation

Blend 1 cup blueberries, 1 medium carrot (chopped), 1/2 cup spinach, 1/2 banana, and 1 cup milk. Add ice to desired consistency. The spinach provides additional lutein for macular protection.

Dosage

1 smoothie daily. Consistent intake over weeks provides cumulative eye-protective benefits.

Cautions

Generally very safe. Those on blood thinners should note blueberries contain vitamin K. Carrot juice in very high quantities can cause temporary skin yellowing (carotenemia).
