About this remedy
A warm blend of ginger, lemon, and honey is a classic supportive remedy during flu-like illness. Ginger may help with inflammation and nausea, lemon contributes vitamin C and hydration, and honey can help soothe throat irritation and reduce cough frequency, especially at night.
Preparation
Simmer 1 inch sliced fresh ginger in 2 cups water for 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat, add juice of 1/2 lemon and 1 tsp raw honey once warm (not boiling).
Dosage
1-3 cups daily while symptomatic, especially warm before rest.
Cautions
Honey should not be given to children under 1 year. Use caution with ginger if you take blood-thinning medications.
