Hibiscus Antioxidant Cold Brew
High-antioxidant refresher for immune and kidney support
Moderate evidenceHerbs in this remedy
About this remedy
Cold-brewing hibiscus preserves its delicate anthocyanins and vitamin C better than hot steeping, producing a concentrate with exceptional antioxidant activity. Studies have shown hibiscus extract can reduce oxidative stress markers and support kidney health by promoting healthy urine flow and reducing crystallisation. This makes it an excellent daily drink for immune resilience and kidney maintenance.
Preparation
Add 2 tbsp dried hibiscus calyces to a 500 ml jar of cold, filtered water. Add a thin slice of fresh ginger and a few mint leaves if desired. Seal and refrigerate for 6-8 hours or overnight. Strain and serve over ice with a squeeze of lime.
Dosage
1-2 glasses daily as part of your regular hydration. Can be prepared in a large batch and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Cautions
Very high in natural organic acids — people with acid reflux may want to drink with food. Due to its diuretic effect, stay well hydrated. Avoid in large quantities during pregnancy.
