About this remedy
Curcumin, the primary active compound in turmeric, has been studied in over 120 clinical trials for inflammatory conditions. A meta-analysis found curcumin extract (1000 mg/day) significantly reduces pain and improves function in osteoarthritis patients, comparable to ibuprofen. Black pepper's piperine is essential for absorption.
Preparation
Heat 1 cup of milk (dairy or plant-based) with 1 teaspoon turmeric, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, a pinch of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon coconut oil. Whisk until frothy. Sweeten with honey.
Dosage
1–2 cups daily. For acute inflammation, use standardized curcumin extract 500–1000 mg twice daily.
Cautions
May interact with blood thinners, diabetes medications, and stomach acid reducers. High doses may cause GI upset. Avoid with gallbladder disease.
