About this remedy
Curcumin from turmeric and boswellic acids from boswellia work synergistically to reduce joint inflammation and pain. A 2018 meta-analysis found curcumin significantly reduces pain and improves physical function in knee osteoarthritis. Adding black pepper increases curcumin absorption by up to 2000%.
Preparation
Mix 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp boswellia powder, a pinch of black pepper, and 1 tsp coconut oil into warm milk or a smoothie. The fat and piperine dramatically improve curcumin absorption.
Dosage
1–2 servings daily with meals. For supplements: 500 mg curcumin + 300 mg boswellia extract twice daily.
Cautions
May interact with blood thinners and diabetes medications. Avoid high doses before surgery. Consult doctor if taking NSAIDs regularly.
