About this remedy

Cucumber's 96% water content combined with its silica and mineral profile makes it excellent for kidney hydration. Lemon's citric acid may help prevent calcium-based kidney stones by increasing urinary citrate. A study in the Journal of Urology found lemon juice therapy significantly reduced kidney stone formation.

Preparation

Slice 1/2 cucumber and 1/2 lemon into a large pitcher of water. Add fresh mint leaves if desired. Let infuse for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator. Drink throughout the day.

Dosage

Drink 2-3 liters of infused water daily. Prepare a fresh pitcher each morning.

Cautions

Generally very safe. Those with kidney disease should consult their doctor about fluid intake limits. Lemon juice may erode tooth enamel — rinse mouth after drinking.
